New Jersey Football Officials Association-North Chapter
2024 President’s Welcome Address

Dear Members of the NJFOA-North,

It is my honor and privilege to welcome you as we enter the 2024 Football season. In my role of President of the NJFOA-North, I am filled with a profound sense of gratitude and responsibility. My time in this role has been one of discovery, learning, and personal and professional growth. I believe that co-curricular activities & athletics, particularly High School Football, play a crucial role in the health, well-being, and overall success of the student-athletes that we work with. As I serve in a leadership role of NJFOA-North, I am committed to working within our organization towards achieving these ends and to serve our members in a way that supports, maintains, and furthers the success and the legacy of the NJFOA-North.

The upcoming season promises to be a successful one for us. I am pleased to report that through the ongoing work of our Executive Committee and the NJFOA State Council, we have been able to accomplish our goals and set new ones as we proceed into this season. Among them:

Our new updated Website is now online and operational. Use our website https://www.njfoa-north.org/ to access meeting dates, links to the NJSIAA, Ref Sec, Quick Cut, the NJFOA YouTube Channel and many documents and resources, such as Crew Evaluation Forms, a Pre-Game Conference Checklist, Chapter Dues notice and a Pre-Game Card Generator.

Implementation of Quick Cut that allows for easier access for our members to game video for crew study and self-evaluation.

Another successful year of the NJFOA Off Season Training meetings and the Third Annual NJFOA Preseason Clinic. Members of all four NJFOA Chapters were again able to meet and work cooperatively in the offseason to prepare for this fall. If you have not yet participated in these two activities, I strongly suggest that you make the time to do so.

A successful and positive outcome regarding the Plainfield-Montogomery High Schools incident that occurred last fall involving six of our fellow officials from two other chapters. I am happy to report that the NJFOA State Council, the four NJFOA Chapters and the NJSIAA were able to reach a positive outcome for all parties involved. A special thanks to fellow official and attorney Dave Field, who worked diligently to bring this matter to its resolution.

As we work together, I invite each one of you to contribute, collaborate, and grow with us. Your insights, experiences, and passion are the lifeblood of the NJFOA-North. Please remember that whether you are on-site and, on the field, you represent the traditions, values, and reputation of the NJFOA-North. Rember- “Each game is a big game for the players, coaches, and fans. Treat it as such.”

I promise you that as president, my main concern is for the success and wellbeing of every member of our chapter. I pledge my support, effort, and hard work to ensure the success of our members and to the chapter.

Thank you for entrusting me with the leadership of this organization. It is my honor. I look forward to your continued support and to being on the field with you. Have a great season!

Best regards,
Greg Currie
NJFOA-North President
